Our giveaways of the titles that appeared on our list of Best Games of 2009 continue. Sony was kind enough to provide us with three boxed copies of Patapon 2 download vouchers for PSP. Patapon 2 was named one of the Best Handheld Games 0f 2009. We’re going back to the commenting format for this one, but with a twist. Entering is as easy as registering for the site and commenting on some of our stories, and we’ll be giving away all three copies by the end of the week. Popcap strips down the tower defense genre so anyone can jump in, then level-by-level builds it up to perfection. Players place various plants to defend the house from waves of the undead. Everything’s got character, and it is damn near impossible to play this game not sporting a big smile. The pacing is perfect and is constantly mixing things up before any repetition sets in. Plants vs. Zombies is rounded out by a good sense of humor and a soundtrack guaranteed to get stuck in gamers’ heads. (more…)

The original Patapon was a great game – one of the few released in 2008 that warranted a dusting off of the PlayStation Portable and a recharging of its battery – but it wasn’t without its fair share of flaws. First among those was a steep difficulty ramp that hits early on, without guidance as to how one must properly upgrade and strategize to succeed. There was also a relatively strict class system, meaning losing one group of Patapon almost surely meant doom for the mission, making it at times miserable to press on. (more…)
