ESRB: E

Publisher: Atari

Developer: Behaviour

Rating: ★½☆☆☆

Since 2009, Ghostbusters: The Game has been sitting on my ‘to do’ list for quite some time, as I heard that while it might not be the greatest game out there, it had enough spirit and character to stir up the nostalgia factor and be a decent title to purchase once the price came down. That being said, when I heard that Sanctum of Slime, a sequel of sorts, was being released as a downloadable twin stick shooter, I was already losing hope. I’m sure that Atari probably lost a little bit of money with the last one, as it wasn’t exactly a high-profile release, let alone the type that would be demanding sales, but it wasn’t that bad, was it? Product: Atari Arcade Pint 4-Pack

Company: ThinkGeek

Price: $29.99

Review By: Dan Braun

With all the terrible merchandise to which game franchises could possibly be attached, these Atari pint glasses are clearly one of the cooler options. This fun four pack of classic Atari glasses features four titles: Tempest, Missle Command, Asteroids and Centipede, and is a great way to whittle down a few pints while playing games on any system. They’re thick, detailed and nerdy enough for any old-school gamer to want, yet classy enough to work as dinner glasses…at least at my house. (more…)

ESRB Rating: T

Publisher: Atari

Developer: Terminal Reality, Threewave Software

Rating: ★★★½☆

Review by: Kevin Haverty

After a stop-and-go development process that saw involvement from several publishers and developers, Atari finally picked up the ball to release Ghostbusters: The Video Game. The script, penned by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis, follows an unnamed new recruit as he joins the Ghostbusters. Gamers take control of this fifth Ghostbuster alongside Peter, Ray, Egon and Winston (voiced by the original cast) to bust ghosts like Slimer, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and new main baddie ,Ivo Shandor, in third-person action. The script is funny at times, but many lines sound forced and unnatural. (more…)

riddickboxTitle: The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena

Platform: 360 (Also on PS3, PC, Mac)

ESRB Rating: M

Publisher: Atari

Developer: Starbreeze Studios

Rating: ★★★★☆

Review by: John Gustafson

Vin Diesel is back as Riddick, the shadow-lurking killer badass, and that is just the way we like him.

The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena
is actually two games in one – Escape from Butcher Bay and Dark Athena. The former was one of the best games on the original Xbox and a must play; the latter is a sequel that continues detailing the story from the movies Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick. (more…)

DragonBall_Origins_DS_L_PackagingTitle: Dragon Ball: Origins

Platform: DS

ESRB Rating: T

Publisher: Atari

Developer: Game Republic

Rating: ★★★½☆

Review by: Kevin Haverty

Game Republic lets gamers revisit the beginning of one of the most popular anime franchises with Dragon Ball: Origins. It is set up as an adventure game where Goku is controlled almost entirely by DS touch controls. There is the option of using the D-pad for movement, but fighting is strictly touching and tapping. The controls are solid but there are some issues stemming from moves that have similar execution. (more…)
