The nominees for the 2009 Eisner Awards (one of, if not the most prestigious of awards in the comics industry) were announced earlier this week.

Among them was Telltale’s 20th Anniversary Sam & Max Surfin’ the Highway collection (best graphic album reprint), which was the only book we awarded five stars back during our time with AMP Magazine. The awesome Umbrella Academy series by Gerard Way got nods for penciler/inker, cover artist, coloring and graphic album reprint. We figured that means now is as good of a time as any to link up the interview Bill did with Way over at GraphicNovelReporter. Grant Morrison’s and Frank Quitely’s All Star Superman was nominated for continuing series. Joe wrote a glowing review of it HERE.

Comics journalist Joe Sacco earned a best short story nomination for “Chechen War, Chechen Women,” part of Mia Kirschner’s I Live Here project Bill reviewed for GraphicNovelReporter. Trish Mulvihill got a nod for for best coloring for her work on Joker and 100 Bullets. Joe gave the book a positive review here while Bill did the same over at GNR.

Dark Horse earned the most nominations of any publisher, including 13 individual and five shared.

The full list of nominees can be viewed HERE. The winners will be announced July 24 at Comic-Con International.
