It is time for what amounts to the biggest Pads & Panels contest yet. Dark Horse Comics has been kind from the very beginning, providing a wealth of books as giveaways to our fine readers. The company has overdone itself this time, putting together an incredible comic giveaway. As comic fans may have heard, Dark Horse did quite well for itself with this year’s Eisner Award nominations, racking up 13 individual honors and five shared. So in honor of the achievement, the company has put together and Eisner nominees pack, comprising:
Usagi Yojimbo 22 Tomoe’s Story
Groo Hell on Earth TPB
Herbie Archives Vol. 1
Wondermark HC Vol. 1
DHP Myspace Vol. 2
Creepy Archives Vol. 1 HC
Umbrella Academy TPB Vol. 1
BPRD: The Warning TPB
Buffy Season Eight Vol. 2 TPB
Grendel: Behold the Devil Issues 0-8
This is the type of contest that makes us all consider quitting as staff members just to be eligible. Damn, our readers are so spoiled. That, and we make it so darn easy. We’re doing another comment contest, because we simply love to see everyone active on the site, and then reward one of those people. Users can earn one (1) entry per post by commenting on any post that goes up through Tuesday, June 30 at 11:59 p.m. Central Standard Time, starting with this contest post. At the end of the contest period, we will randomly select one winner from all eligible entries received.
In response to this post, please give us your predictions for the Eisner winners, which will be announced at Comic-Con International next month. The full list can be seen HERE. Official rules can be found below…
Official Rules
1. Open to United States residents.
2. To enter, please read the instructions provided above. Users can earn as many entries as there are posts in the contest period.
3. Pads & Panels will contact you via email if you win.
4. You give us permission to use your first name and town if you win.
5. This contest is open to users at least 13 years old.
6. All entries must be received by 11:59 p.m. Central Standard Time Tuesday, June 30, 2009.
7. Users caught creating multiple accounts to enter will be disqualified.
8. To be fair, writers for Pads & Panels and their immediate family members are not eligible to win.
9. Winners must respond to the email notification of being selected a winner within one week or the prize will be forfeit, and another winner will be drawn.
10. Dark Horse Comics will ship the grand-prize package. Pads & Panels and Dark Horse are not responsible for prizes lost in the mail.
11. Users cannot win two consecutive Pads & Panels contests. This means if you won the last one, you are not eligible for this contest, but you will be for the next one.

Now if you would open up these contests to Canadians… sad to be so close but yet so far out of the game

I should have made a boo boo face
Now that is more reflective of the disappointment I feel at not being included in your wonderful contest. Canada wants to play too!

Sorry KittyPride, we understand your pain, really we do. Sometime in the future we’re hoping to open the contest to our Canadian brothers and sisters! All in good time, and thanks for sticking with us!

. . . and, er, predictions: don’t read enough comics to have an opinion on everything . . . but I’d probably vote Bill Willingham for writing, “Fables” for best continuing series. And I think Jo Chen should win for cover artist : her work on “Buffy” has been consistently fabulous.

I’m not familiar with a lot of the nominies, but I do enjoy Fables . And “Murder He Wrote” from The Simpsons Treehouse of Horrors was fun. So, I guess those are my predictions.
Thanks for the contest!
